We are in the midst of the Year of Faith!  Pope Benedict XVI declared a Year of Faith to be celebrated throughout the entire Church to mark the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Second Vatican Council and the 20th anniversary of the promulgation of the Catechism of the Catholic Church

The Year of Faith will run from October 11, 2012 through November 24, 2013.

In his Apostolic Letter announcing the Year of Faith, Porta Fidei, he challenges every Catholic to study and learn the faith that we have received:

"To rediscover the content of the faith that is professed, celebrated, lived and prayed, and to reflect on the act of faith, is a task that every believer must make his own, especially in the course of this Year." (Porta Fidei, 9)

Many resources are available to grow in faith!  The Holy Father specifically highlights "the Catechism of the Catholic Church [which] will serve as a tool providing real support for the faith, especially for those concerned with the formation of Christians, so crucial in our cultural context." (Porta Fidei, 12)

We are called during this special year to ...
  • Learn the faith by reading the Scriptures, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, the writings of the Popes, etc.
  • Live the faith through participation in Sunday Mass, Confession, daily prayer, etc.
  • Witness to the faith by teaching others about Christ and His Church and sharing our faith with those around us.
  • Putting the faith into action through works of charity and service.

Pope Benedict XVI has invited us into a special time of grace for the renewal of faith.

How will you respond?
