FOR SUNDAY MASSES
 
1) Schedules
 
The ministry schedule is published three times each year in June, October, and February.
 
 
2) Training Sessions
 
Training sessions for new liturgical ministers is offered according to the following schedule:
  • Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion - May and November
  • Lectors - as needed
  • Youth Altar Servers (basic training for Sunday Masses for students in grades 5 and up) - May and September
  • Youth Altar Servers (advanced training) - November
  • Adult Altar Servers - as needed
 
3) Training Procedures
 
Below are the training procedures that will be followed for each ministry.  Only those who meet the qualifications for each ministry should present themselves for training.  The qualifications for each ministry can be found in the handbooks for each ministry on the bottom of this page
 
  • Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion
    • Attend one training session
    • Read the handbook
    • Attend commissioning ceremony

 

  • Lectors
    • Attend workshop-style training session
    • Read handbook
 
  • Youth Altar Servers (basic training) for students in fifth grade and up
    • Attend initial training session
    • Read the handbook
    • Do follow-up (complete basic quiz on handbook)
    • Be mentored - serve with experienced servers for a time
 
  • Youth Altar Servers (advanced training) for students in seventh grade and up
    • Attend one training session to learn about advanced techniques
    • Read the handbook
 
  • Adult Altar Servers
    • Attend one training session 
    • Read handbook
    • Be mentored - serve with experienced servers for a time
 
 
FOR DAILY MASSES (Youth Altar Servers Only)
 
Students in third and fourth grade are invited to be Daily Mass Altar Servers.
 
 
1) Schedule
 
The ministry schedule is published three times each year in June, October, and February.
 
 
2) Training Sessions
 
Training sessions for NEW DAILY MASS SERVERS is held in May and September (if needed).
 
 
3) Procedure
 
The procedure for training servers will follow a three step process:
 
Step One - Initial training session and read the handbook
 
Step Two - Follow-up (complete a simple quiz on the handbook)
 
Step Three - Mentoring (new servers will be placed on the schedule with experienced servers for their first time)
