Movie & Game Reviews
Parents have the tough job of protecting their children from all the morally corrupt messages in the entertainment industry. It can be very difficult to discern what is good and what is not.
Here are some tools that may be helpful:
Decent Films Guide
The Decent Films Guide is the online home of the film writing of Steven D. Greydanus. Steven is film critic for the National Catholic Register and writes regularly for Catholic Digest, Christianity Today, Catholic World Report and other venues. He is a member of Online Film Critics Society. Steven has contributed several entries to the New Catholic Encyclopedia, including “The Church and Film” and a number of filmmaker biographies. He has also written about film for the Encyclopedia of Catholic Social Thought, Social Science, and Social Policy. Read his reviews here.
Catholic News Service
Catholic News Service provides movie reviews in light of Catholic morality. Read their reviews here.
Video Game Reviews
Plugged In, a ministry of Focus on the Family, offers video game reviews from a Christian perspective. This is not a Catholic ministry, but their reviews still prove helpful for parents.
Internet Safety Resource
The US Catholic Bishops have a resource list for internet safety. Find it here.
Other Media Reviews
Plugged In, is probably the best source of information at this point about other entertainment options (music, television, etc.). This is not a Catholic ministry, but their reviews still prove helpful for parents.
